Cyberpunk 2077’s Phantom Liberty Follow-Up: Patch 2.01 Arrives with Critical Fixes

The post-Phantom Liberty update brings essential improvements and bug fixes to the Cyberpunk 2077 experience.

In the ever-evolving saga of Cyberpunk 2077, CD Projekt Red is releasing the game’s first post-Update 2.0 and Phantom Liberty follow-up, known as Patch 2.01, on October 5th. Marcin Momot, the global community director, confirmed the release in a tweet, stating that the patch is “currently being rolled out on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S.”

This update comes as a response to the diligent feedback from players who reported various issues related to the Phantom Liberty expansion. The primary focus of Patch 2.01 is to address the most significant problems, including the troublesome corrupted save data issue on PlayStation 5 and performance concerns within the expansion’s Dogtown area.

CD Projekt Red has shared comprehensive patch notes on their website, outlining a more extensive list of changes than initially disclosed. These notes encompass fixes for numerous Phantom Liberty quest bugs and promise general “performance improvements for both PC and consoles.”

Among the notable improvements, players can now seamlessly switch to arm cyberware while cycling through weapons. Additionally, obsolete mods will no longer clutter players’ inventories, and the enigmatic Night City Police Department car that previously haunted the streets has been removed.

Phantom Liberty, introduced on September 26, was preceded by Update 2.0, which laid the foundation for significant changes within Cyberpunk 2077. This update ushered in a new perk system, improved AI, and resolved various mysteries and references within the game world. Furthermore, it allowed players to opt out of the paid expansion through specific dialogue choices, a unique feature in the gaming world.

In light of these developments, “Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty” marks a substantial turnaround for CD Projekt Red’s ambitious RPG, aligning with their future plans, including the anime spin-off, “Cyberpunk: Edgerunners,” and the ongoing support for Update 2.0.
