Spider-Man 2 Developer Acknowledges Flag Error, Commits to Correct Puerto Rican Flag Placement

In the wake of the recent release of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, developed by Insomniac Games, attentive fans have uncovered a minor detail that has prompted a swift response from the game’s creators.

The issue in question is the presence of a Cuban flag in Miles Morales’ home, which, it turns out, should be the Puerto Rican flag due to the character’s heritage.

Miles Morales, a beloved character in the Spider-Man universe, is not from Cuba but rather Puerto Rico. His mother, Rio Morales, is of Puerto Rican descent, and it’s essential to note that while the flags of Cuba and Puerto Rico share similarities, they differ in their color schemes.

The oversight was first brought to light by a Reddit user named TheHouselessTurtle, who shared a screenshot from the game depicting the Cuban flag inside Miles’ home.

They posed a straightforward question, asking why the Cuban flag was displayed inside and outside the apartment of Miles and Rio when they are Puerto Ricans. Notably, the Morales family’s heritage was a point of pride in the previous game, making this inconsistency all the more noticeable.

The concern quickly spread to other social media platforms, with one user on X (formerly Twitter) pointing out that while the flag in Miles’ home was indeed Cuban, players could unlock a suit in the game that featured the correct Puerto Rican flag.

To the credit of Insomniac Games, these fan comments and concerns did not go unnoticed. On the very day Spider-Man 2 was released, the developer addressed the issue.

James Stevenson, the studio’s Community and Marketing Director, personally acknowledged the error in a response to a player’s comment. Stevenson assured fans that a fix was in the works to replace the Cuban flag with the appropriate Puerto Rican flag.

While no specific timeframe for this correction was provided, it is reassuring to see that Insomniac Games is actively working to address the matter and rectify the error.

Gamers and Spider-Man enthusiasts can look forward to an update in the near future that will align the in-game flags with the true heritage of the Morales family. We will keep you informed as soon as more details become available.
