Spider-Man 2 Update: Insomniac Games Fixes Flag Mistake and More

Ensuring Accurate Representation: How Insomniac Games Responded to the Spider-Man 2 Flag Controversy

Marvel's Spider-Man 2

Insomniac Games has swiftly responded to a recent oversight in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, where the Cuban flag was mistakenly placed in Miles Morales’ apartment instead of the Puerto Rican flag.

This error caught the attention of the gaming community shortly after the game’s release, exclusively on PlayStation 5. Both Miles and his mother, Rio, are of Puerto Rican descent, making the accurate representation of their heritage crucial.

Insomniac Games wasted no time in addressing the issue, releasing Patch Version 1.001.003 to correct the flag and fix a few additional bugs that had been identified.

The patch notes detail the changes made, including the correction of the flag, fixing model loading issues after extended play sessions, adjusting the brightness of the Spider logo on The Amazing 2 Suit, and overall stability improvements.

In addition to the technical fixes, Insomniac Games issued a heartfelt apology, acknowledging the importance of accurate representation and expressing their commitment to doing better in the future. They stated, “We understand that accurate representation matters, and greatly regret this error. We sincerely apologize and will do better in the future.”

Game’s Success and Additional Fixes

Despite this hiccup, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has enjoyed remarkable success, becoming PlayStation’s fastest-selling game ever within a 24-hour period, with an impressive 2.5 million copies sold.

The game continues to captivate players with its engaging storyline, featuring iconic Spider-Man villains such as Kraven the Hunter and Venom, the latter voiced by Tony Todd.

The patch also addressed a peculiar bug that turned Spider-Man into a cube during long play sessions, showcasing Insomniac’s commitment to providing a polished gaming experience.
