In a significant update to its player safety measures, Fortnite has introduced an innovative voice reporting feature. This new system enables players to report violations of the game’s community guidelines, particularly focusing on instances of abusive or inappropriate behavior, through voice recordings.
Developed by Epic Games, this advanced voice reporting mechanism operates by continuously recording the last five minutes of in-game chat audio. This rolling audio, stored locally on the player’s PC or gaming console, can now be included in reports of inappropriate behavior. The inclusion of audio evidence allows Epic Games to directly evaluate the situation and respond effectively, potentially issuing bans when necessary.
Epic Games has also published a comprehensive technical blog. This blog details their policies regarding data storage, including when the voice reporting feature is activated and under what circumstances players can choose to disable it. It’s noteworthy that disabling the feature is only an option for players over 18 and in cases where they are playing in parties with friends who have similar settings.
The Return to Fortnite OG Island
The game’s map has evolved, reintroducing the snow biome that became a player favorite in the latter half of Fortnite Chapter 1. This update sees the comeback of popular locations like Frosty Flights and the inclusion of the X-4 Stormwing planes, known for their dynamic gameplay.
Moreover, Fortnite OG Island is revisiting elements from its original pirate season. This includes the flint-knock pistols, buried treasure, and the iconic pirate cannon, which offers a unique way of traversing the map.
As Fortnite OG prepares for its final update scheduled for 23rd November, players can expect a nostalgic return of items from the original Chapter’s concluding seasons. These items include air strikes, junk rifts, and possibly the game’s infamous apocalyptic meteor, hinting at a renewed version of the classic black hole event that has been a hallmark of the game’s dynamic evolution.
