Jet Force Gemini Lands on Nintendo Switch: A Rare Revival

Jet Force Gemini, the Nintendo 64 classic that defined the late 1990s gaming era, is making a grand return. Scheduled for release on the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscription service, this game is set to rekindle old memories for gamers on Thursday, 30th November.

Developed by the renowned British studio Rare, Jet Force Gemini stands as a testament to the company’s golden era. During a prolific four-year span, Rare gifted the gaming world with unforgettable titles like GoldenEye 007, Banjo-Kazooie, Donkey Kong 64, and Perfect Dark.

While Jet Force Gemini might not have garnered the same level of fame as these behemoths, it carved out its own niche as an action-packed, arcade-style shooter with a compelling storyline.

Gameplay and Plot

The game takes players on an interstellar journey with the Jet Force Gemini, an elite space police force, in their mission to thwart an army of drones. Players have the choice of stepping into the boots of Juno, Vela, or Lupus the dog – each character equipped with unique abilities that add a strategic layer to the gameplay.

Juno can withstand the heat of lava, Vela excels in aquatic environments, and Lupus, the canine member, boasts the ability to hover.

For those who missed the opportunity to experience Jet Force Gemini during its initial release, or haven’t yet played it through the Rare Replay collection on Xbox, the game’s arrival on Nintendo Switch offers a fresh chance. However, it’s important to note that access to this retro gem requires a subscription to Nintendo’s Expansion Pack membership tier, which includes a selection of classic N64 games.
