In a recent “Actors on Actors” interview with Variety, Margot Robbie, a self-proclaimed fan of “Peaky Blinders,” inquired about the possibility of a movie spin-off. Murphy expressed openness to the idea, emphasizing the need for a meaningful extension of the storyline.
His portrayal of Thomas Shelby, which spanned nearly a decade and concluded with the series finale in April 2022, left fans speculating about the character’s future, especially given the show’s dramatic and open-ended conclusion.
The Status of the Peaky Blinders Movie
The potential for a “Peaky Blinders” movie has been a topic of discussion since 2021 when it was first announced. In 2022, Steven Knight, the showrunner, revealed he was nearing the completion of the script.
He also mentioned plans to set up film and television studios in Digbeth, Birmingham, a location historically linked to the real-life Peaky Blinders. Production was slated to begin in 2023, but no further updates have been provided since.
