Ryan Reynolds Teases Deadpool 3’s New Look

Ryan Reynolds Unveils Deadpool's Updated Costume for the Upcoming MCU Integration.

Ryan Reynolds, the face behind the infamous “merc with a mouth” Wade Wilson, has given fans a sneak peek into “Deadpool 3” with a behind-the-scenes image. As part of his New Year’s celebration post on Instagram, Reynolds included a photo from the set of “Deadpool 3,” revealing a fresh take on the character’s iconic costume.

“Deadpool 3,” set for release in 2024, marks the continuation of the Deadpool series, previously part of 20th Century Studios’ X-Men franchise. With Disney’s acquisition of the studio, the new sequel is now integrated into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), becoming a notable addition to Phase 5 of this ever-expanding saga.

The shared Instagram image showcases Reynolds in full Deadpool attire, sans the signature mask. Fans of the series will notice the costume’s familiar design, with slight variations.

It appears less worn and features a brighter hue compared to its predecessors. This shift in appearance could be a nod to the character’s integration into the MCU’s distinct aesthetic.

Marvel Studios, under Disney’s banner, has been keen to preserve the essence that defines Deadpool. This includes maintaining the franchise’s R-rated edge and appointing Shawn Levy, a familiar collaborator of Reynolds, as the director. The MCU’s adaptation of “She-Hulk,” which also features fourth-wall-breaking elements, sets a precedent for Deadpool’s quirky narrative style within this larger universe.

Despite minor aesthetic tweaks, “Deadpool 3” seems poised to embrace its eccentric nature, possibly more so as part of the MCU. A significant highlight is the inclusion of Hugh Jackman, reprising his role as Wolverine from the X-Men series.

This crossover echoes the MCU’s strategy seen in “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” which brought together different Spider-Man versions. It also aligns seamlessly with Deadpool’s penchant for humorously referencing characters and actors from previous superhero films.
