God of War Ragnarok: Valhalla Receives First Major Patch with Key Updates

Patch v. 05.03 Brings Difficulty Balancing and Bug Fixes to Enhance God of War Ragnarok's Valhalla Experience.

Sony’s Santa Monica Studio has recently rolled out a significant patch (v. 05.03) for the Valhalla expansion of their PlayStation 5 exclusive game, “God of War Ragnarok.” This update brings a blend of bug fixes, gameplay adjustments, and difficulty tweaks to the roguelike mode, enhancing the overall player experience.

The patch, detailed on Santa Monica’s website, addresses several key aspects of the game. Notably, it modifies the difficulty levels in various segments. For instance, adjustments have been made to “The Forum” to align the difficulty more appropriately.

Additionally, some arena challenges have seen an increase in difficulty, while the first encounter with the character Týr has been made easier on the lowest difficulty setting, “Show Me Will.”

In terms of combat and balance, the patch slightly nerfs the health gain and proc chance of the Spear kill perk in the Valhalla mode. These combat tuning updates aim to create a more balanced and engaging gameplay experience.

The patch also resolves a range of bugs affecting both cinematics and gameplay. Key fixes include synchronizing audio and character movements in cinematics, resolving issues with the Greek Labyrinth Mastery not increasing correctly, addressing an exploit with the Spear against Ormstunga, and fixing a problem where Týr would teleport away and not return. Additionally, the patch addresses various gameplay issues, such as encounters not ending properly and problems with Kratos interacting with certain game elements.

General stability improvements are a significant focus of the patch. It resolves multiple crash scenarios, including those specific to non-English languages and those occurring on PlayStation 4 due to a memory leak. Issues like Kratos falling through the world or out of the arena have also been rectified.

The patch enhances the user interface and user experience, fixing overlapping subtitles in vendor menus, incorrect navigation assist pointers, and various other UI issues.

It also adds a ‘Download in Progress’ screen to inform players if they attempt to launch “God of War Ragnarök: Valhalla” before the full installation of “God of War Ragnarök” is complete.

“God of War Ragnarok: Valhalla” was announced earlier in December and released on December 12, offering fans new environments, enemies, and story elements to explore. The patch is a step towards refining this experience, balancing the game’s challenges while addressing technical issues to ensure a smoother gameplay experience.
