OnePlus 12 Global Launch: Expectations and Configuration Limits

Exploring the Configuration and Global Availability of OnePlus's Latest Offerings

OnePlus is gearing up for the global launch of its latest smartphone, the OnePlus 12, along with its more budget-friendly counterpart, the OnePlus 12R. However, not all configurations of this highly anticipated device will be available worldwide, according to recent leaks.

While the OnePlus 12 has already been announced in China, its international debut is eagerly awaited. Speculations suggest that the global market will see two configurations of the OnePlus 12: one with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage, and another with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. Unfortunately, the highest configuration of the OnePlus 12, boasting 24GB of RAM and 1TB of internal storage, is expected to be exclusive to the Chinese market. This is likely to be a letdown for tech enthusiasts and power users who had their sights set on the most robust version of the phone.

Launch Details and the OnePlus 12R

OnePlus 12

Both the OnePlus 12 and the OnePlus 12R are set to have a global launch on January 23, 2024. This event will reveal all details regarding specifications, configurations, and regional pricing.

The OnePlus 12R, designed to be more wallet-friendly, is rumored to start with an 8GB RAM + 128GB storage variant in India, available in Blue and Gray. It is also expected to offer a 16GB/256GB variant. The OnePlus 12 will upgrade to a starting configuration of 12GB/256GB in India, with options available in Green and Black.

Underlying Specifications

Despite the variance in configurations, the core specifications of the OnePlus 12 are set to remain consistent across regions. The device features a 6.82-inch AMOLED display with a 3168 x 1440 resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. Powering the phone is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, accompanied by a 5,400mAh battery, an upgrade from the previous model. This battery supports both 100W wired and 50W wireless charging.

The camera setup includes a 50MP primary camera, a 48MP ultrawide, and a 64MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, along with a 32MP front camera.

The OnePlus 12R, while details are less known, is rumored to house the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, marking it as a more affordable option.

As the January 23 launch approaches, OnePlus fans worldwide are anticipating the release of these latest devices, despite the limitation in the availability of the highest-spec model outside China.
