A Gathering of Global Talent and Premieres at Berlin's Prestigious Film Event.

Berlin Film Festival

The 74th Berlin Film Festival is shaping up to be a particularly dazzling affair this year, boasting a lineup of renowned stars and anticipated films. Artistic Director Carlo Chatrian, in a conversation with Deadline, confirmed a glamorous roster for the event, set to include Kristen Stewart, Adam Sandler, Cillian Murphy, Lena Dunham, Sebastian Stan, Amanda Seyfried, and Rooney Mara.

These celebrities are not just gracing the festival with their presence but are integral to several prominent films in the lineup. Kristen Stewart, a familiar face from last year as the jury president, returns to showcase Rose Glass’s “Love Lies Bleeding” in the Berlinale Special Gala. This film, having debuted at Sundance, also stars Ed Harris, Dave Franco, and Jena Malone.

Cillian Murphy, the leading contender for the Oscar’s best actor award for his role in “Oppenheimer,” will present the opening film “Small Things Like These” by Tim Mielants. This Irish narrative stands as a strong contender for the Golden Bear.

Netflix’s Strong Presence

Netflix’s participation is marked by the world premiere of “Spaceman,” featuring Adam Sandler and Carey Mulligan. Rooney Mara will be seen in “La Cocina” by Alonso Ruizpalacios, a film competing for top honors, alongside Mexican actor Raúl Briones.

Amanda Seyfried is set to attend the international premiere of Atom Egoyan’s “Seven Veils,” and Lena Dunham will be at the world premiere of Julia von Heinz’s “Treasure,” co-starring Stephen Fry and Zbigniew Zamachowski.

Sebastian Stan, known for his role as Captain America, will be featured in “A Different Man” by U.S. director Aaron Schimberg, a film expected to attract younger audiences to the festival. Chatrian remarked on the excitement of seeing younger crowds drawn to different film genres.

International Cinema in Spotlight

The festival’s international flavor is further highlighted with stars like Isabelle Huppert, Gael Garcia Bernal, and Japanese actor Tadanabu Asana, each headlining films in the Competition and Berlinale Special line-up.

In a special ceremony on February 10, iconic director Martin Scorsese will be honored with the Berlinale Honorary Golden Bear, adding further prestige to the festival.
