The Terrifying Tale of Pinocchio Unstrung Emerges

The latest to join this trend is the iconic wooden puppet, Pinocchio, whose story is set to be reimagined in a spine-chilling horror film, “Pinocchio: Unstrung.” This project is spearheaded by Jagged Edged Productions, known for their bold reinterpretations of beloved characters, as seen in “Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey” and its sequel. Their upcoming ventures include horror renditions of Bambi and Peter Pan.

“Pinocchio: Unstrung” promises to deliver a nightmarish version of the traditionally innocent tale. The first glimpse into this dark world reveals a haunting image of Pinocchio in a workshop, transformed into a skeletal figure with spindly fingers and skinny limbs, complete with nails studded through his shins. His eerie, oversized mouth brimming with teeth and a bulging eye adds to the chilling effect, promising a movie experience far removed from the puppet’s innocent beginnings.

Adding an intriguing twist to the narrative, Jagged Edged Productions is crafting a cinematic universe that intertwines their horror adaptations. The producers revealed that “Pinocchio: Unstrung” will be subtly introduced in the closing credits of “Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey 2,” through sketch drawings of unannounced characters from this expanding universe.

As the anticipation builds, details about the casting and director for “Pinocchio: Unstrung” are expected to be announced soon. The film is slated to enter production this summer, aiming for a theatrical release in late 2024. The concept of a shared universe opens up myriad possibilities, including much-anticipated crossovers. Rhys Frake-Waterfield, the director behind “Blood and Honey,” shared his vision of merging these stories, with fans already buzzing about potential showdowns like Bambi versus Pooh.
