Baldur’s Gate 3 not only clinched the coveted Game of the Year award but also impressed the jury with its storytelling, earning it the Best Writing in a Game accolade. The game’s recognition at the awards is a testament to Larian Studios’ commitment to delivering a rich, immersive RPG experience.
Other notable winners included Remedy’s Alan Wake 2, which garnered praise for its engrossing world and outstanding acting performance by Melanie Liburd as Saga Anderson, winning Best World and Best Acting in a Game. Rundisc’s Chants of Sennaar stood out as the Best Indie Game, highlighting the creative potential in the indie gaming sector.
MiHoYo’s Honkai: Star Rail took home the award for Best Mobile Game, showcasing the evolving sophistication of mobile gaming. In the realm of immersive experiences, Sanzaru Games’ Asgard’s Wrath 2 was recognized as the Best AR/VR Game, reflecting the growing interest in augmented and virtual reality in gaming.
Super Mario Bros Wonder delighted younger audiences, winning Best Kids Game, while Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty received accolades for Best DLC, illustrating how additional content can enrich and extend the life of a game.
The awards also celebrated individual excellence, with Arslan ‘Arslan Ash’ Siddique of Twisted Minds/Red Bull Esports being named the Best Esports Player of the Year, and Nicole Carpenter of Polygon for Best Games Journalism.
