The gaming community, particularly fans of the cult-classic Bloodborne, has been abuzz with excitement over a unique fan-created game, Bloodborne Kart. However, recent developments have brought about a significant change. Sony, the owner of the Bloodborne IP, has requested a name change for this fan project, prompting the game’s developer, Lilith.zip, to navigate a new course for her creation.
Lilith.zip, a modder renowned in the gaming community, took to Twitter to share the news that Sony had reached out with a request for changes to her Bloodborne-style kart-racing game.
Adapting to this request, she announced, “Long story short, I need to scrub the branding off of what was previously known as Bloodborne Kart, which we will do. But that requires a short delay.” This alteration means the game, while still on track for release, will undergo some branding and aesthetic changes.
Lilith.zip expressed that this development was somewhat anticipated and reassured fans that the game is still very much in the pipeline. The original launch date of January 31 will be postponed as the team works on rebranding the game, ensuring it morphs into an original creation over which they hold complete creative control.
While there’s no definitive plan yet to launch the game on a major platform like Steam, Lilith.zip has confirmed that it will be available for download on a dedicated website. This move allows greater accessibility for fans and preserves the spirit of the project as a fan-made tribute. The Bloodborne Kart fan game first caught the public’s eye back in 2022, attracting considerable attention for its unique concept and homage to the Bloodborne universe.
Bloodborne, initially released in 2015, has a dedicated fanbase that has been clamoring for any form of follow-up or enhancement, such as a 60fps remaster. This desire for more Bloodborne content was evident when Lilith.zip also revealed a fan-made PS1 demake of Bloodborne in 2022, which was met with enthusiasm from the gaming community.
