Infinite Ammo Bug Leads to Hero Illari’s Removal in Overwatch 2

Activision Blizzard’s recent patch for Overwatch 2, which brought significant changes to several heroes, has resulted in an unexpected and somewhat comical turn of events. The latest support hero, Illari, was quickly removed from competitive play due to a bug that granted her infinite ammunition.

Illari, who became the 38th playable character in the hero shooter, received buffs in the latest patch that inadvertently led to her being able to fire continuously without needing to reload. This bug was highlighted by Overwatch 2 Twitch streamer mL7, who posted a clip showcasing Illari’s endless firing capacity.

In the clip, Illari’s ammo counter hilariously drops into the negatives, yet she continues to shoot uninterrupted. Following this discovery, Activision Blizzard promptly removed Illari from competitive play.

On the Overwatch 2 community forums, a community manager announced the temporary removal of Illari from competitive modes to address the ammunition issue. This decision only affects her availability in ranked play, meaning players can still enjoy using Illari in other game modes like Quick Play. Additionally, the team is investigating other issues, including crosshair settings, Career Profile data inaccuracies, and the persistent LC-208 error code.

While Illari’s infinite ammo bug has been a focal point, the January 9 patch includes several other notable updates to characters. Mauga’s health has been increased, Roadhog’s self-healing ability nerfed, Sojourn’s railgun charge altered, and Ana’s biotic grenade effects shortened. These adjustments reflect the game’s dynamic nature and Blizzard’s commitment to maintaining a balanced and engaging play environment.
