Ballerina Dances to 2025 as The Crow Takes Flight in 2024

Lionsgate Reschedules Two Highly Anticipated Franchise Films.

The highly-anticipated spinoff film Ballerina, starring Ana de Armas and set in the John Wick universe, has been delayed by Lionsgate from its previously scheduled release date of June 7, 2024 to June 6, 2025. This comes as Chad Stahelski, the creative architect behind the hugely successful John Wick franchise, has signed a new deal with Lionsgate to further oversee and guide the series.

Stahelski will be working closely with Ballerina director Len Wiseman on enhancing the action sequences even more than originally planned, according to exclusive reports.

Advance tracking for Ballerina had already indicated strong interest in the film, but Lionsgate wants to ensure the production value and action meet the high expectations set by the John Wick films. Produced by Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee’s Thunder Road, Ballerina will now stand alone when it debuts in the summer of 2025.

Ballerina Delayed to Allow for More Action

Ana de Armas

Taking over Ballerina’s original June 7, 2024 date will be the long-awaited reboot of The Crow, starring Bill Skarsgård. Directed by Rupert Sanders, this contemporized reimagining of the cult classic graphic novel by James O’Barr casts Skarsgård as Eric Draven alongside FKA Twigs as Shelly Webster.

Soulmates Eric and Shelly are brutally murdered, but Eric is given the chance to avenge their deaths and set things right. With a cast that also includes Danny Huston, Laura Birn, and Sami Bouajila, this fresh take on The Crow aims to recapture the dark, romantic spirit that made the original 1994 film a fan favorite.

The Crow Reboot Takes Over Former Ballerina Release Date

The reshuffling puts two highly anticipated films from major franchises into prime summer release spots a year apart rather than crowded together in 2024. This shift allows Lionsgate to devote the resources to perfect Ballerina as a centerpiece of the expanding John Wick universe.

Meanwhile, fans eagerly awaiting The Crow reboot will get their first look in summer 2024 instead of having to wait longer. With intense action andvisual flair, both films have blockbuster potential for their new release dates.
