Elden Ring World Expands with New Manga

Upcoming manga aims to faithfully adapt hit fantasy game.

The wildly popular dark fantasy RPG Elden Ring continues to grow its multimedia presence with an upcoming manga adaptation titled Elden Ring: Become Lord. Originally created by legendary game developer FromSoftware, Elden Ring has enthralled players with its rich worldbuilding and challenging gameplay since its February 2022 release. Now fans can explore the Lands Between through a new lens via this manga set to debut on March 29.

Published by Japanese entertainment giant Kadokawa, Elden Ring: Become Lord will be available first as a digital webcomic before expanding into e-book and print formats. The full-color manga is written by 21g with art by the duo Hand Punch, known for their award-winning manga Emotions Evolution.

Recreating the Journey to Become Elden Lord

Elden Ring

According to Kadokawa, the manga will follow the journey of one of the player avatars known as The Tarnished who ventures into the Lands Between seeking to become the Elden Lord. It promises to showcase the adventures, characters, environments, and epic boss battles that define the Elden Ring experience.

The artists expressed great enthusiasm yet pressure in adapting such an acclaimed property, aiming to honor Elden Ring as an artistic achievement. Their lush visuals could provide a new dimension to experiencing locales like Stormveil Castle andradahn or battling foes like Starscourge Radahn.

Expanding the Franchise Before Major DLC

The announcement comes at an opportune time with anticipation high for the game’s first major DLC expansion, Shadow of the Erdtree, due out in June 2023. This manga helps sustain interest while also reaching new demographics.

Elden Ring previously received a comedic manga adaptation titled The Road to the Erdtree in 2022. However, Become Lord seems to take a more serious tone befitting the game’s somber yet fantastical atmosphere. While currently only announced in Japanese, an English translation seems probable.

For now, Elden Ring fans can look forward to revisiting the Lands Between through a new medium next month. And they can gain more insight into the game’s rich lore and characters through this manga’s panel-by-panel journey to become Elden Lord.
