Minecraft on PC Gets Xbox-Style Quick Resume to Rapidly Jump Into Worlds

New Quick Play feature allows near-instant access to Minecraft worlds on PC, mirroring Xbox Quick Resume.

Minecraft players on PC can now take advantage of a powerful new feature that allows near-instant access to their games – similar to the acclaimed Quick Resume on Xbox Series X/S consoles.

Dubbed Quick Play, the new addition for Minecraft Java and Bedrock editions automatically appears in the Minecraft Launcher. It displays the player’s five most recently accessed worlds and enables jumping directly back into gameplay with a single click, bypassing menus.

This should significantly improve quality of life for frequent Minecraft players who otherwise have to slog through loading and menus every time they want to re-enter a world. Quick Play preserves the ability to normally access all other worlds as usual when desired.

No More Slogging Through Menus to Resume Games

Players can pin favorite worlds to permanently keep them in Quick Play’s five slots, preventing deletion as new worlds bump out older ones. The feature can also be disabled entirely in settings if preferred.

Quick Play demonstrates Microsoft’s commitment to improving Minecraft across platforms, not just consoles. Bringing Xbox’s signature Quick Resume to facilitate near-instant access on PC is emblematic of Microsoft’s Minecraft unification efforts.

The ease of use in instantly continuing creations or adventures will likely make Quick Play indispensible for many on PC. And with Microsoft planning increased Xbox-PC integration, bringing Quick Resume equivalents to more titles could be just the beginning of a convenience revolution.
