PS Plus Spotlights Storied sagas from Tales Franchise This February

The Outer Worlds and Tales of Arise lead a banner month for RPG fans, headlining PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium's free games this February.

PlayStation has pulled back the curtain on another batch of free games for PlayStation Plus members. While the offerings cater to diverse tastes, February stands out for its wealth of immersive, critically acclaimed RPGs hitting PS Plus Extra and Premium.

Headlining PlayStation’s reveal is The Outer Worlds, the spacefaring role-playing smash helmed by Fallout: New Vegas studio Obsidian Entertainment. The Spacer’s Choice Edition bundles the game’s complete DLC, casting Plus subscribers as unwitting colonists embroiled in corporate conspiracies on the furthest edge of the galaxy.

RPG giant Bandai Namco also continues supplying PlayStation Plus with its lauded Tales franchise. Hot off its success as 2021’s best-selling Tales launch, Arise makes its PS Plus debut. The epic story of fate binding cyberpunk planet Dahna and steampunk realm Rena offers a great entry point for newcomers with its action-packed combat.

Plus Premium members gain access to several additional Tales classics. Fan favorite Symphonia, considered among the best GameCube releases, receives an HD upgrade. Meanwhile, Vesperia centers on former knight Yuri as he clashes with a corrupt empire. For a next-gen take on classic 2D side scrollers, the PSP’s Resistance: Retribution brings PS3-quality visuals with a fresh perspective to the alien invasion shooter series.

Beyond RPGs, Plus Extra and Premium continue February’s all-around bounty with games like parkour-fueled racer Need for Speed: Unbound and nation-building adventure Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. Young builders can let imagination run wild in LEGO Jurassic World or the creative sandbox of LEGO Worlds. Those favoring strategy will appreciate fantasy card battler Roguebook or Rogue Lords’ darkly humorous reverse take on running a rogues’ guild.

With blockbusters, critically revered gems, and family fun all on display, PlayStation Plus continues delivering outstanding value to RPG fans and gamers of every stripe when this content drops on February 20. The main question is: which fantastical worlds might gamers explore first?
