Elden Ring fans eagerly anticipating downloadable content for FromSoftware’s smash hit have been left disappointed once again. Parent company Kadokawa’s latest financial report contained a brief update stating that the team is “currently working hard” on Elden Ring DLC, but provided no concrete details or release timeframe.
This vague assurance comes after weeks of rampant speculation sparked by backend updates to Elden Ring’s Steam page and rumors of an imminent surprise launch.
Many fans had hoped the quarterly report would finally confirm a release date and share more specifics on what the additional content may include. However, Kadokawa’s comments simply reiterated that work continues with no launch window.
The report did contain other intriguing news about Kadokawa’s gaming division, including the acquisition of Octopath Traveler developer Acquire.
Additional context was given on the strong sales performance of FromSoftware’s latest game, Armored Core 6, as well as impressive residual revenue from Elden Ring even two years after release. But these details provide little comfort to fans aching for more adventures in the Lands Between.
Kadokawa did state that “various measures are currently in progress for Elden Ring, including the development of major DLC” to maximize the game’s lifetime value.
Yet this gives no real clarity on what stage development is actually at or when fans can expect to get their hands on the new content. For now, it seems hollow words are all that FromSoftware is willing to offer.
So the wait continues for Elden Ring diehards. The second anniversary of the game’s launch looms on February 25th, leaving a tiny glimmer of hope that FromSoftware may finally share more at that milestone.
But following the latest non-update from Kadokawa, fans seem more likely to spend the coming weeks as they have the last two years – hollowing in agony as their anticipation goes woefully unfulfilled.
