Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 6 Renders Reveal Sharp New Design

Leaked images of Samsung's next flagship foldable display a boxier, more refined design ethos.

The first renders of Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 6 flagship foldable phone reveal a potential design departure from its predecessor. Images leaked by veteran tipster Steve Hemmerstoffer (OnLeaks) in collaboration with Smartprix showcase the Galaxy Z Fold 6 with distinctively sharper corners and flat sides – a refreshing change from the Galaxy Z Fold 5’s rounded profile.

The rendered Galaxy Z Fold 6 forgoes the rounded corners and edges of the Galaxy Z Fold 5 in favor of a boxier aesthetic with 90-degree angles. This gives the foldable a more refined, industrial look reminiscent of the recently launched Galaxy S24 Ultra. The images depict the Galaxy Z Fold 6 in Phantom Black color, highlighting its matte finish and metal frame.

When opened, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 appears as a large, rectangular slate with both inner and outer displays visible. The foldable 7.6-inch inner screen and 6.2-inch cover display are expected to feature Samsung’s latest Dynamic AMOLED panels with up to 2600 nits peak brightness. Despite the angular makeover, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 retains a familiar layout, with volume rocker, power button, USB-C port and SIM slot in predictable locations.

The Galaxy Z Fold 6’s rear camera setup remains unchanged from its predecessor based on the renders, with a prominent camera visor housing a 50MP main sensor alongside 12MP and 10MP lenses. A 4MP under-display camera and 10MP cover lens handle selfie duties. Processing power will likely come via a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy chipset.

With the Galaxy S24 series rollout complete, Samsung’s next major 2024 launch is its annual foldable update. The company already teased its new Galaxy Ring wearable at MWC 2024 in February. Expect the Galaxy Z Fold 6 itself to be fully unveiled sometime in July, likely at another Samsung Unpacked event.

As the first purported renders emerge, anticipation will build around Samsung’s foldable flagships, which represent the cutting edge of its smartphone technology. The Galaxy Z Fold 6 renders provide a taste of the improved design and refined finish Samsung hopes will appeal to premium foldable shoppers later this year.
