Considering Amato’s narcissism and the contradictions in his story, it’s reasonable to doubt how open he actually was. Amato may have proven adept at crafting a narrative to his benefit, one that gave him another platform.

Overall, Amato emerges as an unreliable and, some would argue, still dangerous subject. While the documentary illuminates important themes, the questionable centerpiece that is Amato undermines its message. A wiser choice may have avoided amplifying his disturbing craving for recognition, even in condemnation.

Mental Health in the Digital Age

CTRL+ALT+DESIRE sets out to explore important themes surrounding mental health and internet use in today’s world. The docuseries delves into how Grant Amato’s online obsession began as a form of escapism from his troubled life.
