Disney Unveils Massive Release Slate: ‘Toy Story 5,’ ‘Mandalorian & Grogu,’ and ‘Tron: Ares’ Headline Lineup

Disney has unveiled a packed release calendar that includes highly anticipated sequels, spin-offs, and expanded universe entries from some of the company’s most beloved franchises.

At the forefront of the announcement is the long-awaited return of Woody and Buzz Lightyear in “Toy Story 5,” set to hit theaters on June 19, 2026. The sequel to the acclaimed animated franchise will see the return of Tom Hanks and Tim Allen, aiming to recapture the magic that has made “Toy Story” one of Pixar’s most beloved and successful series.

Fans of the Disney+ series “The Mandalorian” will also have something to look forward to, as the studio has revealed a theatrical spin-off titled “The Mandalorian & Grogu,” scheduled for release on May 22, 2026. Directed by series creator Jon Favreau, the film marks Star Wars’ return to the big screen since 2019’s “The Rise of Skywalker.”

Elsewhere in Disney’s release calendar, the live-action remake of “Moana” has been pushed back to July 10, 2026, providing space between the upcoming animated sequel “Moana 2,” set to debut in November 2024. This strategic move aims to ensure each film receives the attention it deserves.

Another high-profile addition to the slate is “Tron: Ares,” a sequel to the cult classic “Tron” franchise. Starring Jared Leto, the film is set to hit theaters on October 10, 2025, offering a fresh take on the digital world of Tron.

Additionally, the release of 20th Century’s “The Amateur,” featuring Rami Malek and Rachel Brosnahan, has been postponed from November 8, 2024, to April 11, 2025.
