Draco Malfoy Actor Tom Felton Offers Nostalgic Tips to Future Harry Potter TV Cast

Veteran Actor Shares Memories and Recommendations as New Generation Prepares to Bring Beloved Characters to Life.

As the highly anticipated Harry Potter television reboot takes shape at HBO Max, veteran Wizarding World actor Tom Felton is offering some heartfelt guidance to the young stars set to take on the iconic roles.

Felton, who portrayed the mischievous Draco Malfoy throughout the eight-film Harry Potter franchise, recently spoke to Collider about the upcoming series and what advice he would give to the next generation of Hogwarts students.

The actor recalled a piece of wisdom imparted to him early on by his on-screen father, Jason Isaacs, who played Lucius Malfoy. “I’m not sure I’m equipped to give advice to anyone. I think Jason Isaacs, I’m pretty sure one of his first pieces of advice was, ‘Don’t take advice from anyone,'” Felton said with a laugh.

However, the 35-year-old actor did offer some sage tips of his own, drawing from his own experiences filming the beloved Harry Potter movies. “I would only say take more pictures and try and steal more props. I’m joking about the last one, but take more pictures because when I find one that I haven’t seen for a long time now, it reminds me of how much fun we were having,” Felton shared.

The actor noted that capturing those special moments was a bit more challenging during the original film series, as smartphones and social media were not as ubiquitous. “Bearing in mind, we didn’t have camera phones then or anything like that, so it’s a bit easier now,” he said.

Felton’s advice echoes similar sentiments recently expressed by another iconic young actor, Taylor Lautner of the Twilight franchise. Lautner urged the future Jacob Black to “soak up every moment” and “live in the moment,” reflecting on how quickly time can pass.

As Warner Bros. and HBO Max move forward with their plans to adapt all seven Harry Potter novels into a new television series, fans are eager to see which young talents will be tapped to breathe life into the beloved characters. And with seasoned veterans like Felton offering their hard-earned wisdom, the next generation of Hogwarts stars will surely be well-equipped to take on the challenge.
