Hexworks, the developer behind the Soulslike action RPG Lords of the Fallen, has released the highly anticipated “Master of Fate” update, bringing a unique roguelite twist to the game via a new Advanced Game Modifier System. This free 1.5 update marks the final milestone in the game’s extensive post-launch roadmap.
The Advanced Game Modifier System empowers players to fully customize their gameplay experience by combining up to seven different modifiers. These modifiers include an Ironman permadeath mode, randomized enemies and loot drops, reduced resting spots, and boons like pre-upgraded weapons and armor.

In addition to the new modifier system, the “Master of Fate” update caps off over 30 previous patches and updates that delivered substantial enhancements to Lords of the Fallen. These improvements include performance optimizations, rigorous difficulty balancing, online multiplayer enhancements, new questlines, armor sets, secret boss abilities, spells, grievous strikes, and quality-of-life features like inventory expansion and gamepad remapping.
By introducing the Advanced Game Modifier System, Hexworks aims to provide a refreshing and replayable experience for Lords of the Fallen, allowing players to craft personalized challenges tailored to their preferences. Whether seeking a more punishing permadeath run, a randomized gauntlet, or a breezy power fantasy, the modifiers cater to a wide range of playstyles.
