Necromantic Puts Horrific Spin on Vampire Survivors Phenomenon

Indie Bullet Hell RPG Blends School Life with Nighttime Monster Onslaught

The wildly popular “bullet heaven” or “survivor” genre kickstarted by Vampire Survivors is showing no signs of slowing down, with a new horror-themed entry called Necromantic on the horizon. Developed by indie studio Clockfellas, the game is set to launch into Early Access on Steam this spring.

Like its inspirations, Necromantic challenges players to survive increasingly intense waves of enemies while deftly navigating barrages of projectiles. However, it introduces a novel twist by framing the action around the everyday school life of its protagonist.

During the day, players will attend classes, complete homework assignments, and nurture relationships with fellow students (including a potential romantic interest) at their adventurer academy. These activities help build the protagonist’s reputation, which enhances their abilities for the harrowing nights to come.

Once darkness falls, Necromantic morphs into a traditional bullet hell experience. Players will unleash over 40 abilities and weapons against relentless monster hordes while carefully managing character progression with each hard-earned level.

The seamless blending of school simulation and combat survival elements makes Necromantic a unique entry in the recently booming genre. Other upcoming titles like Trinity Survivors, TemTem Swarm and Artifact Seeker have taken inspiration from Vampire Survivors’ simple yet addictive premise.

While no firm release date has been announced, Necromantic’s Steam page indicates it will launch into Early Access sometime this spring. Players can look forward to honing both their academic skills and bullet-dodging prowess when battling the night’s terrors, whether braving the onslaught alone or teaming up with friends in co-op.

As the “survivor” craze shows no signs of dissipating, genre fans and newcomers alike have an enticing new experience to anticipate with Necromantic’s compelling horror spin on the formula. Clockfellas’ exciting fusion of day-to-day school activities and frantic monster battles could prove a novel twist to keep the burgeoning genre feeling fresh.
