Star Wars Outlaws to Deliver Gritty Underworld Adventure with Planned Story Expansions

New Narrative-Focused DLC and Expansions Planned After Launch.

Paris, France – In the ever-expanding Star Wars gaming universe, Ubisoft’s upcoming title Star Wars Outlaws is poised to offer players a gritty, behind-the-scenes look at the galaxy’s criminal underworld. Set in the period between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, the game will put players in the shoes of smuggler Kay Vess as she navigates a web of rival crime syndicates, ruthless bounty hunters, and even the Empire itself.

According to the latest details, Outlaws will receive two narrative-focused downloadable content expansions after its initial launch on August 30, 2024 for the PlayStation 5. These expansions will be available as part of the game’s Gold and Ultimate Editions, which also include early access and additional in-game items.

“Ubisoft is really committed to supporting Star Wars Outlaws with meaningful post-launch content,” said lead designer Ethan Petersen. “We want players to feel immersed in this criminal underworld for the long haul, with new stories and missions that expand on Kay’s journey.”

The base game will see Kay embroiled in a high-stakes heist as she attempts to steal a massive fortune from the powerful crime lord Sliro. But as the new trailer reveals, Kay will cross paths with a host of other notorious figures from the Star Wars underworld, including Jabba the Hutt, the Pyke Syndicate, and the remnants of the Crimson Dawn organization.

“This isn’t your typical Star Wars story focused on Jedi and galactic war,” said Petersen. “We’re shining a light on the seedy, morally-ambiguous side of the galaxy far, far away. Players will have to navigate a web of competing interests and make tough choices that impact the outcome.”

In addition to the criminal factions, the game will feature classic Star Wars creatures like the fearsome krayt dragon, as well as introduce a new alien species called the merqaal. Kay’s furry companion Nix, a merqaal, will play a key role in stealth and puzzle-solving throughout the adventure.

While the Rebel Alliance and Jedi Knights are largely absent, the game will still feature confrontations with the Galactic Empire, including intense ship-to-ship combat and ground assaults against stormtroopers and other Imperial forces.

“We want players to feel the constant tension of being a small-time criminal trying to make it big, while also staying one step ahead of the Empire’s crackdown,” said Petersen. “It’s a high-stakes balancing act that we think will really resonate with Star Wars fans.”

Ubisoft’s ambitious vision for Star Wars Outlaws seems poised to offer a unique, morally-complex take on the beloved sci-fi franchise. With narrative-driven DLC planned, players can look forward to an ongoing saga of criminal intrigue in a galaxy far, far away.
