Stellar Blade Promises Uncensored Experience Across All Regions

The PlayStation exclusive game garnering high praise ahead of launch.

Amidst ongoing discussions around regional censorship of video games, the highly anticipated PlayStation 5 exclusive Stellar Blade is taking a firm stance. In an announcement on the game’s official X account, developers confirmed that “Stellar Blade offers the same uncensored version in all countries, including the Japanese version.”

This move by the developers bucks the trend of some PlayStation titles receiving edited versions across different regions, a practice that has drawn criticism from players who decry it as censorship. By committing to a single, uncensored global release, Stellar Blade appears to be siding with those calling for creative freedom and consistency in gaming experiences.

The action role-playing game, set for release on April 26th, has already generated significant buzz. A demo launched on March 29th proved so popular that the developers advised players to “go easy” on it, with some clocking over 50 hours of playtime – progress that will carry over to the full game.

Stellar Blade’s trajectory towards launch has been further buoyed by high praise from acclaimed game director Yoko Taro, known for the critically lauded Nier: Automata. In a recent interview with IGN Japan, Taro heaped praise on Stellar Blade director Kim Hyung-tae, stating, “Stellar Blade is such an amazing game, I think it’s much better than Nier: Automata.”

Taro commended the game’s next-gen graphics, character designs, and even the artwork used for shopkeepers, elements he typically dislikes but found appealing in Stellar Blade’s execution.

As the release date nears, anticipation continues to build for Stellar Blade’s global, uncensored launch and the opportunity for players worldwide to experience the game as its creators envisioned. The developers’ firm stance on the matter signals a principled decision that could resonate with many in the gaming community.
