Marvel’s Daredevil Revival Forges Ahead With Shortened 2025 Return

After extensive reshoots and creative overhauls, Marvel's Daredevil: Born Again has a new March 2025 release window on Disney+ with just 9 episodes instead of 18.

The Man Without Fear’s highly-anticipated small screen rebirth has undergone some significant changes. Marvel’s Daredevil: Born Again has been pushed to a March 2025 premiere window on Disney+ as part of a creative pivot that has also slashed the episode order in half.

The Disney-owned studio has confirmed the retooled Daredevil series, which underwent extensive reshoots over the past year, will now consist of just 9 episodes rather than the originally announced 18-episode season order. A new trailer screened behind closed doors teases a grittier street-level portrayal focused squarely on Charlie Cox’s blind vigilante.

According to reports, the footage highlights Daredevil suited up and delivering a voiceover about the legal system being stacked against underdogs, dubbing it a “David vs Goliath” situation. An action sequence follows before someone asks “What kind of lawyer are you?”, to which Daredevil retorts “A really good one” while putting on his trademark shattered glasses.

Glimpses of supporting players like Kingpin, Foggy Nelson, and Karen Page were also shown, seemingly confirming their involvement despite the show’s overhaul. Jon Bernthal’s return as The Punisher has been rumored as well due to the reshoots.

Daredevil: Born Again was initially conceived as more of a grounded legal/crime procedural that wouldn’t even feature Cox’s Matt Murdock in the iconic red suit until several episodes in. However, that approach has been scrapped in favor of doubling down on the superhero action and mythos that made the character a fan favorite.

The revival series was first announced in 2022 as part of Marvel’s ambitious push into more mature content on Disney+. It aims to build on the success of Netflix’s acclaimed Daredevil series which starred Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin before it was canceled after three seasons in 2018.

Filming began last year before being derailed by the dual writers and actors strikes in Hollywood. This forced Marvel to go back to the drawing board, resulting in the updated creative direction, later premiere date, and truncated episode order.

Though a shorter outing than originally envisioned, the 9-episode Daredevil: Born Again looks primed to deliver a more concentrated street-level heroic tale packed with the grit, action, and moral complexities that defined the character’s best stories.
