Destiny 2: The Final Shape Launch Trailer Teases Cataclysmic Events, New Prismatic Class

Destiny 2's Culminating Expansion Gets Cinematic Trailer Treatment Ahead of June 4th Launch

Destiny 2: The Final Shape

Destiny 2’s highly anticipated expansion, The Final Shape, has received an explosive new launch trailer ahead of its June 4th, 2024 release across all platforms. The footage teases cataclysmic events and the arrival of a never-before-seen “Prismatic” class that promises to shake up Destiny’s gameplay like never before.

The trailer opens with haunting visuals of the Last City, Earth, and its inhabitants being enveloped in some sort of cosmic “cubing” effect, leaving the fates of key characters like Shaxx, Ada, and zones like the Cosmodrome shrouded in mystery.

As the intense cosmic conflict escalates, we see pivotal moments like Zavala seeming tempted by the villainous Witness, Cade beholding his own dead body, and Crow finally unleashing the Golden Gun’s devastating power. The trailer culminates with an Avengers: Endgame-esque sequence of allies charging through a massive triangular portal.

But the true showstopper is the reveal of Destiny 2’s new “Prismatic” class system. According to Bungie, “For the first time, players will be able to wield the powers of Light and Darkness simultaneously, unlocking combinations of abilities never before possible.”

This Prismatic class will allow an unprecedented level of buildcrafting, letting Guardians mix-and-match Supers, melees, grenades, and Aspects across all five damage types, plus mobility powers like Phoenix Dive and Acrobat’s Dodge. Bungie aims to “enable new and interesting buildcrafting combinations that lead to new types of gameplay” with adjustments for certain underutilized Aspects.

With just weeks until The Final Shape’s release, this incredible launch trailer has Destiny 2 fans buzzing about the game’s potentially universe-altering conclusion and the infinite gameplay possibilities of the Prismatic class system.

Bungie has confirmed Destiny 2 will go offline for 25 hours preceding the expansion’s launch on June 4th, 2024 for PlayStation, Xbox, and PC platforms. Buckle up, Guardians – the final cosmic battle awaits.
