Hi-Fi Rush Receives Final Update Before Tango Gameworks Closure

Developers release a round of bug fixes and confirm physical edition plans in the rhythm game's last update before studio's closure.

In a bittersweet moment for fans of Hi-Fi Rush, Tango Gameworks has released the final update for the critically acclaimed rhythm-action game. Update 9, which rolls out today, addresses various bugs and issues across all platforms, serving as the studio’s last hurrah before its imminent closure by Microsoft.

The Hi-Fi Rush update 9 patch notes detail a range of fixes, including collision issues, camera problems, cutscene glitches, and text bugs. One notable fix addresses a collision issue during the QA-1MIL boss fight, where players would fall out of the geometry after reducing the boss’s health to zero. Chai, the game’s protagonist, will now properly fall to the ground instead of plummeting into the abyss.

Other fixes include resolving issues with Macaron’s Gravity Well ability during rhythm parrying, ensuring cutscenes play correctly when using health tanks against the HG-0G boss, and correcting discrepancies between spoken dialogue and on-screen text during the “Dodge Attack” tutorial on PlayStation 5.

Across all platforms, the update also addresses various text bugs and adjusts drink prices in Vandelay vending machines to reflect local currency conversions.

New Games in Xbox Game Pass: Microsoft Announces List of Forthcoming Titles

While Update 9 marks the end of active development for Hi-Fi Rush, Tango Gameworks has confirmed that plans for a physical edition of the game are still in the works with Limited Run Games. Details on the release date and availability of the physical edition are yet to be announced, but fans have been assured to “stay tuned for details.”

The release of Hi-Fi Rush’s final update comes in the wake of Microsoft’s decision to shut down Tango Gameworks, the studio behind the game’s development. The closure, announced last week, sent shockwaves through the gaming community, as Tango Gameworks was Microsoft’s only Japanese studio and had just delivered one of the best Xbox games of this generation with Hi-Fi Rush.

Despite the studio’s closure, the developers at Tango Gameworks have expressed their gratitude to fans for their support and have ensured that Hi-Fi Rush will receive one last round of bug fixes and improvements. Update 9 serves as a fitting farewell from the talented team, demonstrating their commitment to delivering a polished gaming experience until the very end.

As Tango Gameworks prepares to close its doors, Hi-Fi Rush’s final update stands as a testament to the studio’s dedication and a bittersweet farewell to a game that captivated players with its innovative rhythm-based gameplay and infectious soundtrack.
