Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance Expands Roster with Iconic Demons

Atlus Re-Release Recruits Demi-Fiend, Adds New Game+ Options and Level Cap Increase.

Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance

As Atlus gears up for the highly anticipated release of Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance on June 14th, new details continue to emerge about the expanded re-release of the acclaimed RPG. In addition to bringing the game to new platforms like PlayStation and Xbox, Vengeance will introduce exciting new content for returning fans.

One of the biggest draws is the ability to recruit the iconic Demi-Fiend from Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne into the player’s party. The Demi-Fiend was previously only available as a brutal boss fight in the original game’s DLC. Now, this legendary protagonist can join the Nahobino’s forces in the fight to decide the fate of the world.

But the Demi-Fiend isn’t the only new demonic ally. Vengeance also marks the Shin Megami Tensei debut of three fearsome demons from African mythology – Onyankopon, Anansi, and Nyami Nyami. Their unique abilities and lore are sure to intrigue long-time fans of the series’ rich bestiary.

Additionally, the daily demon videos highlighting Vengeance’s diverse cast have spotlighted the Dragon race’s Vritra. A recurring demon that has undergone several iconic design shifts, Vritra adopts a more humanoid form in this latest installment while retaining its roots in Hindu mythology as the “Enveloper” that battled Indra.

Beyond the new demonic recruits, Vengeance introduces several gameplay improvements for hardened demon tamers. The new Virtual Trainer feature allows players to refight previous encounters with increasing difficulty up to level 100 with each new game cycle. And with the new Moral Transcendence miracle, the level cap has been raised from 99 to 150 for the Nahobino and their demons.

Rounding out the enhancements are new New Game+ options, giving players more incentive to experience Shin Megami Tensei V’s dark storyline repeatedly with added challenges. The re-release also bundles all four DLC packs from the original game into the base experience.

With a host of new demon designs, challenging end-game content, and the ability to add the legendary Demi-Fiend to their ranks, Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance shapes up to be the definitive way to experience this acclaimed JRPG opus. Fans have much to look forward to when the game releases across all major platforms later this month.
