In a development that’s sure to excite fans of both “Supernatural” and “The Boys,” discussions are underway for Jared Padalecki to make an appearance in the fifth and final season of Amazon Prime Video’s hit superhero satire. Eric Kripke, creator of both shows, has confirmed that talks are actively ongoing, potentially setting the stage for a reunion between Padalecki and his former “Supernatural” co-star Jensen Ackles.

Kripke, speaking to Entertainment Weekly, expressed enthusiasm about the possibility of bringing Padalecki into “The Boys” universe. “The value of that is to break the internet,” Kripke said. “So we’ll see whether it’s right for the story. But yes, it’s occurred to me that putting those two in a scene together would destroy much of the world, and that’s appealing.”

The timing seems fortuitous, as Padalecki’s schedule has recently opened up following the unexpected cancellation of his CW series “Walker” after four seasons. Kripke noted, “We both have now seen that it looks like our schedules will line up.” However, he was quick to add that details are still very much in the air. “I don’t have the role for him yet just because we haven’t cooked it up. We’re still really early in the season 5 break,” Kripke explained.

For his part, Padalecki seems equally eager to join the project. In an interview with Deadline, the actor emphatically stated, “The answer is yes,” when asked about his interest in the potential role. He elaborated on his connection with Kripke, saying, “I think at this point in my acting life, I only want to work on projects that I really care about or with people that I really care about, and obviously Eric and I are indelibly connected forever.”

Padalecki’s potential involvement in “The Boys” has sparked speculation about what kind of character he might play. The actor himself has joked about portraying a villainous supe with “the power of wearing clothes,” but ultimately deferred to Kripke’s creative vision. “The way his brain works is wildly interesting and outside of the box… So I’ll just go with what he creates,” Padalecki told TVLine.

If the plans come to fruition, Padalecki would join a growing list of “Supernatural” alumni who have appeared in “The Boys” universe. Jensen Ackles notably portrayed the complex and controversial Soldier Boy in the show’s third season, while Alexander Calvert and Rob Benedict have taken on roles in the spinoff series “Gen V” and the upcoming fourth season of “The Boys,” respectively.

As “The Boys” continues to push boundaries with its satirical take on superhero culture, the addition of Padalecki to its star-studded cast could indeed “break the internet,” as Kripke suggests. With the fourth season currently streaming and generating buzz, fans will undoubtedly be eagerly awaiting further news about this potential reunion in the show’s final season.

While specific details about Padalecki’s potential role and the extent of his involvement remain under wraps, both the actor and Kripke seem optimistic about making it happen. As Padalecki put it, “I will be ready when he makes the phone call. I’ll just say ‘Okay, when am I flying out?'”
