Krysten Ritter, known for her portrayal of the gritty Marvel antihero Jessica Jones, has ignited excitement among fans with her recent comments about potentially reprising the role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, while discussing her latest project “Orphan Black: The New Echoes,” Ritter emphatically stated her readiness to return to the character. “One hundred percent [I would return as Jessica Jones],” she said. “I am ready, and I would, of course, be there in a heartbeat.”

Ritter’s enthusiasm stems from her deep connection to the character, whom she played for five years across three seasons of the Netflix series “Jessica Jones” and the crossover event “The Defenders.” She emphasized the importance of Jessica Jones to herself and many fans, adding, “She’s a character who I absolutely love, and she was a part of my life for so long.”

The possibility of Jessica Jones joining the MCU has gained traction following the integration of other Netflix Marvel characters into the broader cinematic universe. Notably, Charlie Cox’s Daredevil has made the leap to the MCU, with a new series, “Daredevil: Born Again,” currently in production.

Adding fuel to the speculation, Marvel Studios streaming head Brad Winderbaum recently confirmed that all former Netflix shows, including “Jessica Jones,” are now considered MCU canon. This development has opened the door for potential crossovers and continuations of these beloved characters’ stories.

“Jessica Jones,” which aired from 2015 to 2019, garnered critical acclaim for its mature and gritty take on the superhero genre. The show centered on Jessica, a former superhero turned private investigator in New York City’s Hell’s Kitchen, known for her superhuman strength and sardonic wit.

While there’s no official announcement regarding Jessica Jones’ return to the screen, Ritter’s eagerness and the recent trends in Marvel’s content strategy have left fans optimistic. The actress even joked about her preparedness, saying, “I may or may not have an extra jacket already.”

As the MCU continues to expand its roster of characters and storylines, the potential return of Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones remains an exciting prospect for Marvel enthusiasts. For now, fans can revisit the original “Jessica Jones” series, which is available to stream on Disney+.
