Patient Ace Attorney fans will finally be able to experience the full Miles Edgeworth investigative spin-off saga when Capcom brings the Ace Attorney Investigations Collection to PC on September 6th. The new bundle pairs a remastered version of the original Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth with the long-awaited official English localization of its sequel, Investigations 2: Prosecutor’s Gambit – over a decade after its Japan-only release.
While protagonist Phoenix Wright has led the courtroom antics of the main Ace Attorney visual novel games, the Investigations sub-series offered a change of pace by putting players in the shoes of his rival prosecutor Miles Edgeworth. Taking the formula beyond cross-examinations, the games are divided between searching crime scenes for evidence and then using that proof to rebut witness testimonies.
The original Miles Edgeworth game debuted in 2009 but its follow-up Investigations 2 remained trapped in Japan after launching for Nintendo DS in 2011 and then mobile in 2017. Despite its warm reception and fervent fan demands for an official translation, Capcom left the title’s English localization up in the air – until now.
“Players can finally experience the full Ace Attorney saga when the Investigations Collection drops this year on September 6,” teased Capcom’s announcement, confirming the bundle will at last make both investigative spin-offs accessible to international audiences.
In addition to bringing Investigations 2 into the localization fold, the collection will remaster the original game with the option to toggle between updated visuals and the original pixel art presentation. Unspecified “bonus features” are also promised, with those who pre-order being rewarded with an additional five new arranged musical tracks to use in-game.
For Ace Attorney devotees who have exhausted the Phoenix Wright and Apollo Justice trilogies already available on PC, the Investigations Collection offers a fresh perspective on the supernatural courtroom universe. With the bungled localization of Investigations 2 finally rectified over a decade later, the compilation stands as both an intriguing new entry point and an essential completionist package.
The Ace Attorney Investigations Collection’s debut continues Capcom’s efforts to bring the entire offbeat legal drama series to modern platforms following 2019’s The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles. With Wright’s core adventures and now this spin-off accounted for, all eyes will turn to whether the crossover Professor Layton vs Ace Attorney is next to resurface.
