The Lords of the Fallen franchise is getting a new installment in 2026, publisher CI Games confirmed today. The as-yet untitled sequel, currently codenamed “Project 3,” is being co-published with Epic Games, which will hold exclusive worldwide PC publishing rights through its Epic Games Store.

While sharing few concrete details, CI Games stated in a financial filing that development of the third Lords of the Fallen game is underway for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC platforms. The company will maintain publishing and distribution rights for the console versions.

This partnership builds on the recent success of 2023’s Lords of the Fallen remake developed by Hexworks. That game, which relaunched the action role-playing series in Epic’s Unreal Engine 5, sold over 1 million copies in just 10 days according to CI Games.

“We’re incredibly grateful to the passionate Lords of the Fallen community for their invaluable feedback and ongoing support,” said a CI Games representative last year. “It’s their unwavering dedication that has made this success possible.”

The original Lords of the Fallen was an ambitious but flawed Souls-like game that released in 2014 to mixed reviews on PC and consoles. However, consistent updates and improvements transformed it into a cult favorite among fans of challenging action-RPGs.

By partnering with Epic Games for the sequel’s PC publishing, CI Games likely aims to ensure a smoother launch capitalizing on Epic’s tech expertise with Unreal Engine. Details are scant, but hopes are high that “Project 3” will build on the series’ renewed momentum.

Lords of the Fallen fans now have a multi-year wait for the threequel. But their patience may pay off with an even more polished experience when the dark fantasy adventure continues its epic journey in 2026.
