Fortnite’s latest v30.10 update is set to unleash a thunderous collaboration with legendary rock band Metallica, bringing an array of metal-infused content to the popular battle royale game. Scheduled for release on June 13th, this massive update promises an immersive musical experience, new skins, and a Metallica-themed point of interest on the Battle Royale map.
Kicking off the partnership is “Metallica: Fuel. Fire. Fury.,” an in-game experience that will take players on a journey through six of the band’s fan-favorite songs, with gameplay tailored to match the intensity of each track. Scheduled for multiple showtimes across June 22nd and 23rd, this event promises to deliver Metallica’s music like never before.
But the Metallica invasion doesn’t stop there. Fortnite Festival Season 4, which launches with the v30.10 update, will feature a new “Battle Stage” experience where 16 players can compete in a musical free-for-all. The season’s Festival Pass will offer rewards, including Outfits inspired by Metallica members James Hetfield, Kirk Hammett, and Robert Trujillo, with the Lars Ulrich Outfit unlocked upon purchasing the Premium Reward Track.
In the Battle Royale mode, a floating “Metallica Loot Island” will periodically appear, featuring a stage inspired by the band’s M72 World Tour. Players can capture the point of interest and unleash a torrent of loot, including the “Ride the Lightning” guitar, which creates a lightning arc for squadmates to traverse.
Epic Games is also introducing a new “Thrash Mountain” track for Rocket Racing, a volcanic course with Metallica’s “Fuel” blasting in the background and instrumental monuments dotting the landscape.
Fans can further immerse themselves in the collaboration with a range of Metallica-themed cosmetics and items hitting the in-game shop. These include the “Puppet Master” Outfits for each band member, featuring flame-emitting eyes and blazing skull breastplates, as well as additional Jam Tracks from the band’s iconic discography.
The Fortnite x Metallica crossover even extends to the competitive scene, with the Squads Fill Battle Royale Metallica Cup scheduled for June 18th. Top-performing players in this event will earn the exclusive “Ringer Emote” before it becomes available in the shop.
