First up is the game’s new damage system, which takes things to the next level by leaving permanent marks on Snake’s body from every injury sustained. As described on the official website, “Any injuries to his actual body will leave their mark permanently, telling a story of each player’s unique journey through the game.”
So bullet wounds, bruises, tears in Snake’s sneaking suit – all will accumulate over the course of the mission, creating a visual record of every hard-fought battle and near-death encounter. It’s an ambitious system that has already won over MGS fans, who praise it as a perfect fit for the franchise’s penchant for bizarre but immersive details.
“Despite the jokes about how messed up you will be able to make Snake look, players are genuinely excited about the feature, and especially how it feels so fitting to the franchise’s odd choices,” reported Game Informer.
While the extent of the permanent injuries remains unclear, the new damage model reinforces Metal Gear Solid Delta’s focus on authenticity and survival elements when it launches in 2024 forPS5, Xbox Series X, and PC.
