The beloved “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise is experiencing a resurgence of interest across multiple entertainment platforms, delighting fans with new content and collectibles.

Fortnite, the popular battle royale game, is set to launch a major “Pirates of the Caribbean” crossover event on July 19, 2024. This collaboration, which was inadvertently revealed early due to a premature release of an event pass featuring Captain Jack Sparrow, has been officially confirmed by Epic Games.

Dataminers have uncovered additional characters slated to join the crossover, including Davy Jones, Hector Barbossa, and Elizabeth Swann. These characters are expected to be available for purchase separately from the event pass. The crossover will also introduce pirate-themed items such as the “Ship in a Bottle” and a Jack Sparrow “Jar of Dirt” emote, adding to the immersive experience for players.

Meanwhile, collectible figurine company Funko has unveiled its latest Pop figure of Captain Jack Sparrow. This new vinyl figure, titled “Jack Sparrow (Opening),” captures the character’s iconic introduction from the first film, “Curse of the Black Pearl.” The figure depicts Sparrow atop his ship’s lookout, moments before his comically revealed predicament of commanding a sinking boat.

This release highlights the enduring popularity of Johnny Depp’s portrayal of Jack Sparrow, which earned him an Oscar nomination and helped propel the franchise to over $4 billion in box office earnings across five films. The figure, priced at $14.99 USD, is part of Funko’s specialty series and is set for release in November 2024.

As fans eagerly engage with these new offerings, questions remain about the future of the film franchise itself. Reports suggest a reboot is in the works, though it’s unclear whether it will feature the Jack Sparrow character or Johnny Depp.

For now, enthusiasts can revisit the entire “Pirates of the Caribbean” film series on Disney+, while anticipating the upcoming Fortnite event and new collectibles. This multi-platform approach demonstrates the franchise’s continued ability to capture imaginations across various forms of media, ensuring that the pirate’s life remains an enticing prospect for audiences of all ages.
