Marvel Studios’ Head of Streaming, Brad Winderbaum, has provided intriguing insights into the upcoming third season of the animated series “What If…?“, suggesting it may serve as the conclusion to a trilogy. In a recent episode of The Official Marvel Podcast, Winderbaum teased that the new season will push the boundaries of multiverse exploration and feature surprising character appearances.
“It feels like the completion of a trilogy,” Winderbaum stated. “It goes beyond the first two seasons in its exploration of the multiverse, and it pulls in characters that are very unexpected.” He added that the season would offer “an extremely moving and fulfilling culmination for the Watcher,” the series’ enigmatic narrator voiced by Jeffrey Wright.
These comments have fueled speculation that the third season could be the final installment of the series. Despite the show’s premise allowing for potentially endless alternate scenarios, especially with the upcoming introduction of the Fantastic Four and X-Men to the MCU, Winderbaum’s remarks suggest a planned endpoint for the current narrative arc.
