Max Sets Launch Date for ‘Kite Man: Hell Yeah!’, Expanding DC’s Animated Universe

Adult animated series featuring Gotham's unlikely hero set to debut July 18, promising a wild ride through DC's criminal underworld

Kite Man: Hell Yeah!

Max has officially announced the premiere date for its highly anticipated adult animated series “Kite Man: Hell Yeah!” The spin-off of the popular “Harley Quinn” show is set to debut on Thursday, July 18, 2024, with a two-episode premiere. Subsequent episodes will be released weekly until September 12, 2024.

The series, based on DC Comics characters, follows the misadventures of Kite Man and Golden Glider as they attempt to run a bar in Gotham City, catering to some of the most dangerous rogues outside Arkham Asylum. The show promises a unique blend of humor and action, set against the backdrop of the DC universe’s criminal underworld.

Matt Oberg returns to voice the titular Kite Man, joined by an impressive cast including Stephanie Hsu as Golden Glider, James Adomian as Bane, and Keith David as Darkseid. The series also features the talents of Jonathan Banks, Michael Imperioli, and the late Lance Reddick as Lex Luthor.

A recently released trailer offers fans a glimpse into the show’s irreverent tone and violent humor, staying true to the spirit of its predecessor, “Harley Quinn.” The spin-off expands on Kite Man’s character, who played a significant role in the first two seasons of “Harley Quinn” as Poison Ivy’s fiancé before her relationship with Harley blossomed.

Executive producers Dean Lorey, Justin Halpern, Patrick Shumacker, Kaley Cuoco, and Sam Register bring their expertise to the project. The series is a collaboration between production companies Delicious Non-Sequitur, Lorey Stories, and Yes, Norman Productions, in association with Warner Bros. Animation.

For DC Comics enthusiasts, it’s worth noting that Kite Man, created by Bill Finger and Dick Sprang, made his debut in 1960’s Batman #133. His journey from comic book pages to animated series star showcases the character’s enduring appeal and potential for growth.

As “Kite Man: Hell Yeah!” prepares to take flight, fans of adult animated series and DC properties alike have much to look forward to. With its star-studded voice cast and promising premise, the show is poised to carve out its own niche in the expanding DC animated universe on Max.
