The Emmy nominations were just announced, and it looks like the FX samurai drama “Shogun” has a big lead in the behind-the-scenes categories this year. It got an impressive 16 nominations! “Shogun” is all about feudal Japan, and the creators worked really hard to make everything from the costumes to sets look super realistic for the time period.

Coming in close behind with 13 nominations each were “Fallout,” a video game adaptation on Amazon, HBO’s “True Detective: Night Country,” and the popular comedy “Only Murders in the Building” on Hulu. Netflix’s royal drama “The Crown” and FX’s funny restaurant show “The Bear” also did well with 9 nominations each.

Some of “Shogun’s” coolest nominations were for things like production design, costumes, cinematography (how it’s filmed), editing, makeup, music, and visual effects. Those categories really reward shows that put a lot of attention into historical accuracy and small details.

“Fallout” is probably “Shogun’s” biggest competition. It got nominated for filming, effects, and sound editing. “True Detective” wowed with its Alaska mystery story and scored nominations for its creepy look and feel. “Only Murders” continues to be successful in its third season with nods for its unique comedy style.

Animation fans will have a fun time picking between shows like “Blue Eye Samurai,” “Bob’s Burgers,” “Scavengers Reign,” “The Simpsons,” and “X-Men ’97.” The Emmy nominations celebrate all the hard work that goes on behind the scenes to make TV come to life. It should be exciting to see which show is named the best of the best creators at the awards!
