As the release date for “Sweet Home” season 3 approaches, new promotional material suggests that the popular Netflix K-drama has learned from its season 2 missteps. The latest trailer prominently features Lee Do-hyun’s character Eun-hyeok, whose absence was keenly felt in the previous season.

“Sweet Home,” one of Song Kang’s most successful Netflix K-dramas, is set to conclude with its third season, premiering just six months after season 2. This quick turnaround comes as welcome news to fans, especially considering the mixed reception of the second season.

The new trailer gives viewers their best look yet at Eun-hyeok’s return. Previously believed dead after his heroic sacrifice at the end of season 1, Eun-hyeok was revealed to be alive – but transformed into a monster – in season 2’s finale. His increased presence in the marketing materials for season 3 suggests a more significant role, addressing one of the main criticisms of the previous season.

Season 2 of “Sweet Home” diverged significantly from its predecessor, introducing many new characters while sidelining fan favorites. Even the show’s protagonist, Hyun-su (played by Song Kang), had a reduced role. The absence of Eun-hyeok, who had been a central figure and leader of the Green Home survivors, was particularly noticeable.

However, Eun-hyeok’s return may not be entirely positive. The new trailer hints at a potential villainous turn for the character, with scenes showing him fighting Hyun-su. Eun-hyeok describes himself as a “neo-human in the final stage of the monsterization process,” raising questions about his allegiance in the upcoming season.

Despite these ominous hints, there’s hope that Eun-hyeok’s story won’t be entirely tragic. Given Hyun-su’s ability to control his powers and suppress his “evil alter,” fans speculate that Eun-hyeok might achieve similar control.

The return of Lee Do-hyun’s character, along with the focus on established characters, suggests that “Sweet Home” season 3 is aiming to recapture the magic of its first season while continuing to evolve its story. As the series prepares for its grand finale, fans are eager to see how Hyun-su’s journey concludes and how Eun-hyeok’s return will impact the narrative.
