Pixar confirms the return of the Parr family in Incredibles 3, with Brad Bird set to direct and fans speculating on the return of a classic villain.

Incredibles 3

Pixar Animation Studios has announced that Incredibles 3 is currently in development, targeted for a summer 2027 premiere. Brad Bird, who wrote and directed the first two films in the popular franchise, will take on both roles again for the third installment.

The Incredibles films have earned much praise from audiences since the original debuted in 2004. Known for its entertaining superhero action blended with relatable family themes, the series follows the adventures of the Parr family as they juggle superpowered exploits and everyday challenges. The sequel continued the story in 2018 and went on to massive box office success.

The new film is expected to reunite the voice cast from past entries. Craig T. Nelson and Holly Hunter are likely to reprise their roles as parents Bob and Helen Parr, aka Mr. Incredible and Elastigirl. Sarah Vowell and Samuel L. Jackson are also expected to lend their voices for children Violet and Frozone again. One exception may be the role of son Dash, as the actor from Incredibles 2 could now be too old depending on where the sequel picks up the storyline.

One popular villain fans hope will return is the Underminer. Introduced at the end of the first movie and serving as the opening threat in the sequel, the character, voiced by John Ratzenberger, was never truly defeated on screen. His unresolved plotline leaves an opening for him to potentially menace the family once more. Whether in a main antagonist role or just a cameo, his inclusion could bring a sense of closure for long-time viewers.

While details on the third film’s plot are still under wraps, Pixar is known for crafting heartwarming stories within thrilling fantasy worlds. As with prior installments, Incredibles 3 aims to deliver exciting superhero action paired with meaningful themes of family bonds. Fans can look forward to the franchise’s continuance delivering more of what they love about the beloved Parrs.
