Ted Danson has publicly apologized to Kelsey Grammer for an argument they had during their time starring together on the hit sitcom “Cheers” in the 1980s. In a recent episode of the podcast “Where Everybody Knows Your Name,” co-hosted by Danson and actor Woody Harrelson, Danson acknowledged having a disagreement with Grammer while filming the show that damaged their relationship for decades.

“Cheers,” which aired from 1982 to 1993, centered around a Boston bar where locals gathered. Danson played Sam Malone, the charismatic bartender, while Grammer joined the cast in 1984 playing Frasier Crane, a psychiatrist who became a regular patron. However, Danson admitted to Grammer on the podcast that the two had “gotten angry” at each other during production, an incident that left a lasting impression on both.

Taking responsibility, Danson expressed regret for how the disagreement affected their friendship long-term. “It’s stuck in both of our memories,” Danson said. He directly apologized to Grammer, stating “I feel like I missed out on the last 30 years of Kelsey Grammer and I feel like it’s my bad.” Grammer accepted the apology gracefully, telling Danson “My love for you has always been as easy as the day.” He wished they had spent more time together after the argument.

Danson and Grammer’s on-screen dynamic helped make “Cheers” immensely popular, airing over 11 seasons. Grammer’s character Frasier spun off into his own successful sitcom “Frasier” from 1993 to 2004. Both shows featured 11 season runs.
