The huge success of “Deadpool & Wolverine” has inspired actor Ryan Reynolds to work on a new project with longtime collaborators Hugh Jackman and director Shawn Levy, the three of them announced this week.

The new project is their fourth collaboration, following hits like “Free Guy” and “The Adam Project.” Reynolds stated that he would be writing the script for the next year, but he wouldn’t say what the plot was about.

The news comes right after “Deadpool & Wolverine” broke records at the box office. It has made $636 million in ticket sales in the United States, making it the highest-grossing R-rated movie ever. It has beaten blockbusters like “Barbie” to become the 12th highest-grossing movie of all time and the seventh-highest-earning Marvel Cinematic Universe movie.

“I don’t think you have a normal functioning nervous system if you can actually process that in any real way,” Reynolds told Variety about how insanely popular the movie was.

The project will be more than just a superhero story; experts in the field say that Reynolds’s recent roles show that he is becoming more serious. He showed more depth as an actor in “The Adam Project” than in his usual comedic roles.

Reynolds also talked about rumors that she might host the Academy Awards. She said she was interested, but it wasn’t a top concern. “It would be a dream to do it one day,” he said, stressing that writing the new movie was his main goal.

Reynolds is still devoted to his family despite his success at work. “The ‘Deadpool’ movies consume my entire life, but I’ve got four kids, and I love my kids,” he said.

Drawing from old musicals like “Planes, Trains, and Automobiles,” Reynolds still values making movies with other people. “I love hearing other points of view, perspectives, and lived experiences,” said he.

As Hollywood waits for more information, it looks like the partnership between Reynolds, Jackman, and Levy will take their superhero success to new creative areas.
