SZA has hinted at the possibility of a sequel to One of Them Days, though she jokingly speculated that her co-star, Keke Palmer, may not be as eager for a return.
During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, SZA was asked whether there were any discussions about continuing the story from the R-rated buddy comedy. Initially hesitant, she then quipped, “Keke’s tired of me. She’s gotta be.” Despite the playful remark, the singer expressed enthusiasm about reuniting with the creative team behind the film. “She’s chock-full of energy. I would be so honored to be involved in anything that they did again. I would just literally try way harder knowing what’s at stake; people will be watching, and I can play into that.”
One of Them Days, which premiered in theaters on January 17, stars Palmer and SZA as mismatched roommates who find themselves scrambling to recover their stolen rent money before time runs out. The film, written by Insecure and Rap Sh!t writer Syreeta Singleton and directed by Lawrence Lamont, was produced by Issa Rae. It has continued to perform well at the box office, marking a strong theatrical debut for SZA as an actress.
SZA and Palmer previously crossed paths in 2022 during their respective turns as musical guest and host on Saturday Night Live. Their on-screen chemistry in One of Them Days has since drawn praise, adding another dimension to both artists’ already diverse careers.
SZA is currently preparing for her Grand National Tour alongside Kendrick Lamar. The stadium tour, which follows their collaboration during this year’s Super Bowl, begins on April 19 in Minneapolis and runs through August 9.
