Lucy Halliday steps into the role of Daisy in Hulu’s sequel series to The Handmaid’s Tale, set 15 years after the original show.

The Handmaid's Tale

Hulu’s upcoming series The Testaments, the sequel to The Handmaid’s Tale, has cast Lucy Halliday in the role of Daisy, a Canadian teenager with unexpected connections to the oppressive regime of Gilead. The new show, based on Margaret Atwood’s 2019 novel, takes place 15 years after The Handmaid’s Tale and follows three women—Aunt Lydia, Agnes, and Daisy—as Gilead’s control begins to weaken.

Halliday’s character, Daisy, discovers her links to Gilead, marking her as a central figure in the fight against the regime. Daisy joins Ann Dowd, returning as Aunt Lydia, and Chase Infiniti, who plays Agnes. Together, the three women will shape the unfolding story of Gilead’s decline.

The Testaments is created by Bruce Miller, who also serves as the showrunner. Miller continues his work from The Handmaid’s Tale, with Steve Stark and Warren Littlefield also executive producing. MGM Television produces the series.

Halliday has built a solid reputation with recent work, including a role in California Schemin’, directed by James McAvoy. She also earned a Scottish BAFTA Award for her performance in Blue Jean and was nominated for a British Independent Film Award.

With The Handmaid’s Tale concluding its final season in April, The Testaments promises to expand the narrative further, delving into the fall of Gilead through the perspectives of a new generation of women.
