Hayden Christensen will reprise his role as Anakin Skywalker in the second season of Ahsoka, now in development for Disney+. Speaking at Star Wars Celebration in Tokyo on April 19, Christensen said his approach to the character continues to shift with each new appearance.

“I think my understanding of the character is just continuing to grow,” he said in an interview with Complex. “We’re getting to sort of explore different sides of Anakin, which I’m really enjoying.”

Christensen added that the Ahsoka series allows him to portray aspects of Anakin that have not been shown previously. “I’m really loving getting to sort of play the more heroic side of the character in the Ahsoka show,” he said.

Production on Season 2 is expected to begin next week. The new season follows the conclusion of Season 1 in October 2023 and the show’s official development announcement in January.

Rosario Dawson, who plays Ahsoka Tano, commented on Christensen’s involvement during the same event. “I’m so grateful he’s coming back,” she told Entertainment Weekly.

Series creator Dave Filoni has previously spoken about Christensen’s return. “His lightsaber skills are just insane,” he told EW in 2023. He also noted how cast and crew responded to seeing Christensen back in costume. “You realize the power of these characters and the archetypes that George Lucas created,” Filoni said.

Season 2 will include returning cast members Lars Mikkelsen as Thrawn, Eman Esfandi as Ezra, and Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera. Rory McCann joins the production in the role of Baylan Skoll, following the death of Ray Stevenson.
