Transfer Completed: Bayern Announce the Signing of Mane

FC Bayern recruits a star player from England to the Bundesliga - in Munich, Mane is expected to delight fans with his goals and skills.

The transfer of star striker Sadio Mane to FC Bayern is completed. Following the agreement of the Munich with Liverpool during the tough transfer negotiations, the 30-year-old goalscorer will receive a three-year contract until June 30, 2025 with the German soccer record champion.

The Bavarian club confirmed this on Wednesday. Reportedly, Bayern will pay Liverpool a transfer fee of 32 million euros for the Senegalese player. Due to certain bonuses, the amount could rise to 41 million.

“We are convinced that Sadio Mane will bring a lot of joy to our fans in the coming years with his spectacular style of play. He is ambitious and hot to win more titles. This package is very, very strong. With players like him, all big goals are possible at FC Bayern,” said CEO Oliver Kahn.

Sports director Hasan Salihamidzic is happy about a new “top international star” at FC Bayern. “Sadio Mane fits perfectly with the soccer that FC Bayern plays under Julian Nagelsmann,” he said.

Transfer of Mane, who had joined Southampton from Salzburg in 2014, was the highest priority for the Munich club and especially for chief squad planner Salihamidzic. For weeks, the sporting director negotiated with coach Jürgen Klopp’s top club. “It is great that our board around Oliver Kahn and Hasan Salihamidzic was able to sign a player like Sadio Mane for FC Bayern,” said President Herbert Hainer.

The previous contract of Mane at Liverpool expired on June 30, 2023. Initially, the Champions League finalist was seeking a transfer fee of 42.5 million pounds, the equivalent of just under 50 million euros. The Bavarians had reached an early agreement with the attacker and his manager on a deal.

In 2016, Liverpool had paid the equivalent of just under 40 million euros to Southampton. “For me, therefore, there was no doubt from the start: this is the right time for this challenge. I want to achieve a lot with this club, also internationally,” Mane said.

Mane is his country’s record goalscorer. With Liverpool, he won the Champions League in 2019. He became English champion with the team in 2020. With the multi-million transfer of striker Darwin Nunez from Benfica Lisbon, the club had previously signed a replacement for Mane.
