Go through the pantry and make a homemade mask!

The natural and homemade ingredients that you usually find in your pantry at home can often do far more for the health and beauty of your hair than expensive shampoos and conditioners. In this article, we will teach you how to make a homemade mask to give your mane a beneficial treatment and share 7 different hair mask recipes.

Mask for damaged hair

For the homemade mask, all you need is a medium banana and a teaspoon of almond oil. Mash the banana with a fork and mix it with a teaspoon of almond oil. Rub it into the entire length of your hair, approximately 5 cm from the scalp, taking special care of the ends. Leave for about 30 minutes, then shampoo and condition as you are used to.

The bananas will soften your hair beautifully and promote its natural elasticity, whilst the almond oil will retain moisture within the hair fiber. After using, it will leave your hair soft, sleek and protected against dryness from the cold weather.

Hair mask for not-so-shiny hair

Squash is an absolutely fantastic seasonal ingredient. Rich in vitamins A and C, containing beta-carotene, Zinc and potassium, it is wonderful for your hair too. When you start on your pumpkin soup or porridge, set a few cubes aside and dive into this great mask.

Use a stick blender or food processor to puree one cup of cleaned, peeled pumpkin and stir in two tablespoons of honey. Apply to the entire hair length, including your roots, then cover with a bathing cap or plastic bag. Allow to sit for at least 15 minutes and then rinse with warm water.

Mask for blondes

Isn’t your blonde as shiny and bright as you’d like it to be? Then enlist the help of natural “bleaches” in the form of chamomile, lemons and even potatoes. Revive your blonde mane without chemicals and the risk of damaging your hair.

Wash and finely grate a potato and mix it with the juice of a squeezed lemon. Then add 125ml of lukewarm chamomile tea and mix thoroughly again. Spread over the entire hair length, covering with a plastic bathing cap or plastic bag and heat through the plastic for about 2-3 minutes on low heat with a hairdryer. Rinse thoroughly afterwards.

Mask for hair without volume

To help get your scalp and hair back in shape, give them a mask that contains nothing better than a classic Czech beer. The beer contains a lot of vitamin B and proteins that will give your hair a dazzling shine.

In a bowl, smash a banana, break an egg into it and whisk until you get a perfectly smooth mass. Then, thoroughly mix in a tablespoon of honey and 125ml of light beer. Massage the mask into your hair and scalp and massage for about 5 minutes. Leave on for an hour and then shampoo.

A mask for oily hair

The avocado, Honey and Olive Oil will perfectly lock moisture in your hair, whilst the Peppermint Tea will refresh, clean and moisturize your scalp. Skin the avocado, smash and whisk well with a spoonful of honey, olive oil and a teaspoon of lukewarm mint tea.

Rub into the entire length of your hair, taking special care of the ends. Allow to sit for about 30 minutes, and then shampoo and condition as you are used to.

Hair mask for weakened hair

There’s nothing that gives your hair more strength than protein. So give them this cheap, quick and effective white yoghurt treatment. Mix 125ml of full-fat white yoghurt (ideally 10% fat), an egg and one tablespoon of lemon juice, and stir thoroughly. Apply to shampooed hair and work entirely, particularly on the scalp. Allow to sit for 20 minutes and then rinse thoroughly with warm water.

Mask for brunettes

Do you want to pamper your brown hair color to make it brighter, more vibrant and healthier? Treat it to all the benefits of cocoa beans. To make the mask, you need half a cup of Dutch cocoa beans, 125 ml of full-fat yoghurt (ideally 10% fat), 1 teaspoon of honey and 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar.

Combine all the ingredients in a bowl and apply to washed and towel-dried hair. Be careful not to let the mask drip onto your shoulders or face, as it could temporarily stain your skin. Allow to sit for 2-3 minutes and then rinse thoroughly with warm water.

Sugar cane scrub

Although a scrub won’t directly make your hair shine, it will remove dead skin cells from your scalp, leaving it lighter so it can absorb the nutrients your hair needs more easily. The olive oil adds moisture and prepares it for dry, cool days.

Stir two tablespoons of brown sugar with a tablespoon of olive oil until they are perfectly combined. Separate the hair in several places and gently massage the scrub into the skin in circular motions. Thoroughly rinse with warm water, shampoo and apply conditioner as you are used to.
